Dear Roald, Genesis and Synth-A-Modeler are actually very different tools, with different goals. The goal of Genesis (as I understand it) is to have a small number of core virtual objects, whereas Synth-A-Modeler aims to eventually have a large number of virtual objects. Also, Synth-A-Modeler is more interested in sometimes promoting violating the laws of physics in some circumstances if is artistically interesting.
Regardless, with physical modeling for sound synthesis, the biggest challenge (but also part of the reward) is often learning how to do it well. If you have already been trained on Genesis, and since you live in Europe, I highly recommend that you contact ACROE about getting Genesis. ACROE-ICA is a great team and they make a great product! You can take some workshops with them! Best, Edgar -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: [Faudiostream-users] Synth-a-Modeler anyone? Date: Fri, 09 Sep 2016 18:03:49 +0200 From: roald.baudoux <roald.baud...@brutele.be><mailto:roald.baud...@brutele.be> To: Faudiostream-users@lists.sourceforge.net<mailto:Faudiostream-users@lists.sourceforge.net> Hello, I have recently discovered this physical modelling library for Faust through the SaM Designer application which transforms the patches into Faust scripts. Is there anyone using Synth-a-Modeler with or without SaM Designer? I have tried to adapt a few examples to faust~ but I am a bit puzzled as most of SaM Designer examples seem dedicated to run with the develop's specific set-up using a force-feedback device. Also it's strange one has to adapt the existing examples. A tutorial to develop a patch from scratch would be useful. Currently I am trying to rebuild simple stuff with masses and junections I made during a Genesis workshop at the ACROE a long time ago but this seems already a bit too hard to achieve. Any help would be highly appreciated.
