Thank you for your answer.  Yes, the default plugin setting works but the 
standalone flag causes errors.
If I use the -standalone flag I see many errors in Projucer (5.0) that were not 
there in 4.3.1
The first one:
error: : error reading 
'/Users/jc/juce/examples/karplus32/JuceLibraryCode/include_juce_audio_basics.mm'

The file generated with the standalone flag builds fine in Projucer 4.3.1 but 
not 5.0
