hi all, I have put up yet another proposal for a constitution - nothing new, actually, but an integration of articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 (amended), 8 and 9 of FreeCultureConstitution3 and articles 3 and 4 of FreeCultureConstitution1 (unfortunately I wrote this wrong in the notes to the first revision committed to the wiki):
http://www.freeculture.org.uk/FreeCultureConstitution4 It should retain the liveliness of Constitution3, but with the *potential* to have a well defined structure and membership if needed as outlined in Constitution1. After having had the very positive experience of seeing Deptford.TV run in March, I am still convinced that local groups should be fairly independent, and that organizations such as ORG are better at dealing with some issues (PR and all) but if we use some structure to coordinate all the activities and discussions instead of having a structure for structure's sake, a semi-structured organization like the one proposed in Constitution4 can hopefully help. Of course things will get done at the local level only if there is a clear vision, enough resources, and so on - but if individuals are members of FC-UK, as opposed to local groups, I see little possibility of wrong decisions/bad structure of FC-UK hindering local activities. Just my 5p of course. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this Saturday's meeting (we have parliament elections in Italy); if voting will occur and proxies are accepted (I understand this is a chicken-and-egg problem, and therefore will accept any decision), Adnan will be the person authorized to vote on my behalf. a~ _______________________________________________ fc-uk-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.okfn.org/mailman/listinfo/fc-uk-discuss
