I'd suggest asking about fair circumvention - a blanket refusal to
make criminals of people who aren't violating old-fashioned copyright,
but are breaking the new DRM laws. Sadly, our badly-thought-out DRM
laws can make stripping DRM from a public domain work a breach of
copyright law. Libraries are among the many groups that this hinders,
so I'd hope it would play well there.

So, my main question would be: should fair circumvention be written
into law to assist private study, commentary, news reporting,
libraries and so on, or is it right for DRM laws to create new forms
of copyright offence hindering use of works in the public domain?

A second question could be: should abusive operators of DRM systems
be liable for massive computer misuse? (Sony-BMG)

Hope that helps,
