Ahoy, I had a thought about the competition. We don't need to have it ready and running by the time we post out the packages. If we could have enough legwork done so that we can be sure it *could* happen then we could say as much in our covering letter and invite groups to get involved.
I'd imagine we'd want the following done by late August: - Strong leads on musicians donating samples, preferably some already secured - Some judge on board - Some idea of the timeline and judging procedure - A team of people who can co-ordinate it once it gets going Then with the groups that express an interest we can start to: - Collect the samples, properly tagged, on Remix Commons - Finalise the timeline and judging procedure - Prepare the press release and related materials - Announce like crazy - Run it, close it, judge it, tie up loose ends, announce like crazy Thoughts? I'm going to chase up my friend Clare about the musicians. I'm sure we can at least get some from LOCA, Fading Ways, Magnatune and others all under BY-SA if we bat our eyelashes. Kind regards, Tom -- The task of critique is not to denounce the ideals, but to show their transformation into ideologies, and to challenge the ideology in the name of the betrayed ideal (Fromm – Beyond The Chains Of Illusion) _______________________________________________ fc-uk-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.okfn.org/mailman/listinfo/fc-uk-discuss
