Hi. I am attempting to setup/bootstrap an organisation dedicated (broadly) to:
* the promotion of free and open culture * providing support to those wishing to create works under liberal licenses (FLOSS/Creative-Commons...) I am conscious of not replicating the wheel, so this is a heads up, signalling our interest in potentially becoming "Free Culture Scotland" and/or "Free Culture Dundee". This said I also have an interest in promoting some potentially international projects (including the possibility of one in Africa). One other pilot project we are interested in doing (under this organisation) is a podcast providing lectures and interviews with academics and free-thinkers in various fields. The idea is that all/most materials including 'the cutting room floor' would be liberally licensed and made available online for reuse. Other project ideas for the future include trying to promote "free culture" ideas into art colleges and the Scottish music/arts/crafts scene. Hence we think it might be good to also start a "remix scotland" campaign. Currently we are under resourced (there are two of us) with fulltime jobs and generally busy lives. So we are looking to collaborate and reuse/remix any appropriate materials that have been assembled in other Free Culture campaigns. We are also looking for other interested parties to provide their support. Our current strategy is to borrow infrastructure from elsewhere and address the community building issues first, as I feel that technology is the smallest challange. For this reason we are currently trying to outsource all our initial infrastructure to anyone who's willing to give us a leg up. Currently we are running a blog on wordpress where we plan to track our progress and document our ideas, though I would like to also provide a wiki and mailing list in our community building exercise. So my questions are: * What hoops do we need to jump through to become an affiliated group? * Would it be ok if we created a few wiki pages about us and our projects on www.freeculture.org.uk? * Is there anybody already doing freeculture projects in Scotland who is interested in collaborating with us? We have a blog which we are using to kickstart our project at: http://commonends.wordpress.com/ -- Rick [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Rick [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ fc-uk-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.okfn.org/mailman/listinfo/fc-uk-discuss
