#2069: Table issue with template and heading

If I have a table like this
{| {{table}}
! A || B
|-
! 1
| 2
|}
After using the editor it gets munged like this
{|
|-
| A
| B
|-
| 1
| 2
|}
Table template removed, and headings changed from ! to |. Any workarounds
for this ?
