It was 234.patch that I was referring to above. I tried serializer's
solution first and it didn't seem to work, but I guess this was for the
same reason that 234.patch didn't work for me initially.
234.patch seems more elegant than serializer's solution, with less set up
involved. However, if this was part of an official release I guess this
wouldn't be an issue, so it's really down to which solution gives the
correct behaviour under all conditions.
