No he wasn't referring to you. The fact is that FreeDOS has the modest
goal of running as many DOS applications as possible. For me that
usually means, in Linux, using DOSEMU, so we have a DOSEMU that runs
out-of-the-box without needing to violate MS or
DR/Caldera/whoever-owns-it-now licenses. Anything beyond that is optional.
If someone wants to clone OS/2 instead of DOS then feel free to start a
FreeOS/2 project but then this is the wrong list to talk about it.

Now, pmode is not something for the FreeDOS kernel to worry about, but you
are free to implement a DPMI server which runs on top of FreeDOS. In fact
somebody else already did that; search the internet for cwsdpmi, causeway
and dos32a and you find plenty of sources.
