Hi Bart, many thanks for your continued work on FreeDOS. I tried to use Kernel 2030 and found two things not working for me (with Freecom 0.82pl2). Hope this will help you to improve compatibility.
1.) The 'terse editor' is not working. It complains about 'file too big!'. Even if file exists and is only some byte (like config.sys)in size. This behavior even with empty config.sys and empty autoexec.bat. This is/was working with MS-DOS 6.22 for me. If you want to test by yourself you will find Terse (a 4K editor on ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/mirrors/ftp.cygnus.com/pub/embedded/free-dos/editors/ters151f.zip 2.) When doing (OK trying to do so...) Unattended OS-Installs of W2K/XP by my Freedos-Netowrk-boot-Disk over the network, the winnt.exe setup-programm complanis about not beeing able to install ntloader to drive C: (this also works if i swap freedos kernel/command with MS-DOS 6.22) Aaah. just tested with kernel2029 and things are the same. (i thougt it was functional - but used MSDOS for a longer time now.) May be problems are related to freecom rather than to kernel? Many thanks for your continued work.
