Setting aside the capital punishment debate (which is truly OT) I would
like to object to the repetition of the above oft-quoted and quite
misguided parable.

Expecting different outcome from the the same actions is only crazy if
you control all of the inputs, which is almost *never* the case, and is
absolutely never in social situations. This quote is absolute nonsense.
In almost every circumstance, it is *quite* reasonable to re-try an
experiment to see if you get a different result.

Please laugh at the next person you hear offering this as some kind of
criticism of a proposal :)
