Hi Wests Awake,

I just got my last 4 FE-1s so have them all. In my experience, you
won't have time to even think about academic commentary. Its not as
important as it is for university exams. The Griffith notes do make
alot of references to academic commentary (Wylie states that....,
Casey is of the opinion that....) - that's all you will need. You will
be trying to learn so many topics per exam that you really have to
condense them down as much as possible.

I used the Griffith notes for all the exams and nothing else. I have
never seen the independent manuals so I can't comment on which are
better, but I had no problems with the Griffith ones. Your best guide
of what you will need to know are the exam papers. at least have a
quick look over all of them after you do your notes to make sure that
you have enough info to answer all of them. Some of my Griffith notes
were not that up to date (my company ones were from 2002). It depends
alot on the particular subject though, some subjects don't change that
much. Just make sure you're familiar with recent important cases and
legislation (NB the new conveyancing bill in land law).

These are very practical exams - alot of problem questions and
practical essay questions asking you to summarise the law in a
particular area so if you do the work and understand the material you
will be fine!

Good luck!!
