Hiya, Just a note to know that the Griffith One Day revision courses are coming up. What with the more, shall we say "condensed" timetable for the fe1's, I've decided to start the revision courses earlier and stagger them to help people get a better advance run at the exams. As with last year, using the code "Googlegroups" will qualify you as a "past student" bringing the price from €150 down to €75.
I will be checking to make sure though that you're really on the group though! Full information is on www.gcd.ie/fe1 and then just follow the "one day revision" link. The courses lecturers will be delivering them last year so that myself (Brian Foley) on contract, David Langwallner for constitutional, Jennifer Goode for EU, Caren Geoghegan for Company, Keith Spencer for Tort, Emma Callanan for Property and John Smith for Criminal. Full profiles are all on www.gcd.ie/fe1. The courses were a "new" thing (fe1 direct aside!) last year and despite me worrying that no-one would be interested, we unfortunately had to turn away applications. The idea is to keep the classes small (max 20) so that they actually benefit in a one-to-one sense. We've had a few slots already taken, so I'm not sure I could guarantee that "registration on the night" would work. The focus of the seminar is largely on the fe1 exams themselves, which we are licensed to use and disseminate to participating students. Suggested solutions to past papers are given out in hard form. I, for one, am planning to move the seminar entirely around the papers - i.e. to avoid generalised revision and really just start out offer and acceptance questions, then consideration, then formalities etc and to build the revision around the questions. Any feedback on whether this would be a preferable approach is welcome. Otherwise, the format of the seminars is largely down to how each lecturer feels his or her course is best revised in six hours. I think a few participants on this group took the courses and found them beneficial last year, so here's hoping we can reproduce the form of last year and overcome some pre-exam qualms.
