Nicu, I tried your grub splash and it is a testimony to what can be done with a 16 color pallet. Nice job.
The issue may be more technique than anything else. Let's post some "proof of concepts" and share our ideas. What I have used in the past is inkscape and gimp. Gimp is required, inkscape is optional. Diana and Mairin, should someone create a wiki page titled "ArtworkGrubSplashPOC" to hold our submissions?
