Simply trying to import a perfectly valid jpg thumbnail. (Client set to http
not https) So far as I am aware (and it is my laptop) this is an absolutely
standard XP-SP2 installation.

Hi Richard,
I just tried on XP SP2 and can't replicate this. Is there anything interesting
about your setup on Windows? Also, there may be more hints in
server/logs/fedora.log or tomcat/logs/*.log
