Hello all, I'm the lead developer for the Public Knowledge Project, which maintains Open Journal Systems (OJS) and other applications such as Open Conference Systems (OCS) and the PKP metadata harvester. We're seeing increasing interest in interoperability between our projects and projects like Fedora. I thought it might be generally useful to start a quick discussion here about data exchange -- what standards you're currently using, which you expect to support and use in the near future, etc.
We're seeing lots of interest in the SWORD protocol for deposits, Shibboleth for single sign-on, etc. Users are often interested in ways to seamlessly integrate disparate applications (mostly look-and-feel issues). I think integration is going to be a big topic in web development in the next few years, so this might be a good opportunity to survey best practices and identify areas where current technologies could be improved. What other standards and practices are currently at play for Fedora that might be useful for an electronic publishing platform like OJS?
