My repository’s XACML policies need access to data inside my objects, but
the AttributeFinderModule implementations in Fedora 3.2.1 don’t export the
attributes I need. Currently I’ve hacked a local copy of
ResourceAttributeFinderModule to supply the institution-specific attributes
I need, but I’d prefer to grow the solution into something more generally
useful, and perhaps even a patch that I can submit back to the project.

FCREPO-66[1] (XACML AttributeSelector support) looks similar to what I was
looking for, but it’s been marked WONTFIX in deference to FCREPO-451[2]
(FeSL). The latter says that the FeSL work is coming together, but the
ticket hasn’t been updated in several months. What’s the status of that FeSL
work? If it’s almost done, is there a usable beta that I can start using and
submitting bugs and bugfixes on?

I was originally intending to address my immediate problem by producing a
patch against either 3.2.1 or trunk to make PolicyEnforcementPoint load
arbitrary configurable AttributeFinderModules, but in the light of the FeSL
docs and the lack of recent update to the ticket, it’s not clear to me if
such a patch would be helpful or not. Would the patch I describe be useful
to the project or to other developers? If I instead produce a patch against
3.2.1 to address FCREPO-66 directly, would that be valuable?

Thanks for the input.
