This is a major accomplishment, for which Kai deserves great credit.
He has delivered our first community managed release, with significant
functionality, in a process that was smooth and well run, not to
mention on-time! That's right, this release was aimed at the end of
the year and that target was met without slipping. Thanks to FIZ
Karlsruhe for making Kai's time available. It was no small job.
Also, I would like to make sure that everyone knows what a superb job
Chris Wilper has done in building up the Committers Group in a short
time to be an effective team that is a pleasure to work with. At a
DuraSpace meeting in June, we set the target to get a community-led
release out within one year. Chris established a governance model,
organized the process and has built a committers group of 11 people so
far, 8 of whom are not directly employed by DuraSpace. And the release
is 6 months early!
A hearty thanks to all the committers for a job well done. I look
forward to working with you all in the coming year. Now take a nice
long holiday. You have earned it!
