Hi Ben

This is how I do remote debugging:
- edit the tomcat/bin startup script and insert "jpda" before the word
"start" right towards the end of the file
- in eclipse, right click on the (root) project and select "Debug As" and
the "Debug Configurations..."
- Right-click on "Remote Java Application" and select "new"
- Click Debug to start debugging.
- and that's it if it is on the same machine (otherwise host, port etc will
need changing)

Next time around the debug config just created will be visible under Remote
Java Application, so you can just select that and click Debug.

I'm on Eclipse 3.5.2 also.
