We would like to announce that our system, CDC Stacks, went live on July 2012.
We can definitely see that all the effort put in place was well worth it. Our
entire team is very proud of our accomplishments. At this time, we also want to
extend our thanks to this entire community, for without you, our job would have
been all the more difficult. We would like to thank each member of this
community both individually and as a group. This community is both alive and
relevant.
Technical Details
We are hosting our application at Amazon's AWS environment. Not only is our
Production system there, but also our QA and Staging environments. Most
recently, we have moved our Development environment as well.
Our stack consists of an Apache HTTP server acting as a proxy and load balancer
(mod_jk) to several Tomcat Servers running Fedora and Muradora using MySQL as
its database. The nodes are independent of each other, allowing us to add and
remove Fedora servers as needed. Also, each Fedora instance has all its objects
and data streams locally for better isolation. Fedora has proved to be very
robust when it came to re-index itself and to remap metadata in order to keep
all nodes in sync.
We still have work ahead of us. Most imminent is the plan to migrate from
Muradora to Islandora in order to be able to upgrade our Fedora commons. We
will be working hard on testing performance in order to support our projected
growth. Hopefully, you will see more participation from us and we are confident
that we can count on all of you for support.
