Does anyone have experience or interest in NoSQL? As a metadata or object
database in a Fedora implementation or in some other context. Most people
surely use Solr or other Lucene based search indexes which are somewhat similar
as a concept.
Of course, NoSQL is not meant to completely replace traditional relational
databases but to support it where it has the advantage. It would be crucial to
also identify where exactly NoSQL is the better choice. And how to implement
the required functionality. I don’t know if Fedora already has the support for
NoSQL. We’re looking into this in our project (OSA) and would like to share the
benefits and work together. As members of the project we have people who were
originally developeding MySQL and are now working with its successor MariaDB,
which has an integration with Apache Cassandra.
Please, let me know if you’re interested or even better, have some experiences
on it already.
