Hello,
I'm trying to glean what intersections exist or may exist between the Resource
Index and the XAXCML policies applied to any objects identified via a query of
the RI.
Here's a hypothetical scenario I'm trying to work through:
A faculty member has a collection of research datasets. Each dataset has the
appropriate pointer back to the collection object within its RELS-EXT
datastream. Some of these datasets, however are not available to the public,
or may be available after an embargo date has been reached. Those restrictions
and affordances will be appropriately encoded within the XACML datastreams as
needed.
A member of the public interacts with the repository and sets off a query of
the collection members.
I want to avoid listing datasets to which she would be denied access. To aid
convenience however, the faculty member wants to organize his datasets within
a single collection.
Does the Fedora XACML engine have a way to prevent listing items to which the
user has no permissible access? I am in the camp that feels that the worst
thing you can do is dangle an item in front of a patron and then sneer while
saying, "sorry, you are not permitted to see this object"...
Thanking you in advance for any insight and advice you might provide,
P
