Hi Nicholas FeSL AuthN is considered production ready, and is now the default AuthN mechanism.
One of the most significant barriers for using FeSL AuthZ is the dependency on Berkeley DB XML - https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/FCREPO-576. This is currently being addressed and should make it into the next release. You can see a list of currently-outstanding JIRA issues for FeSL at https://jira.duraspace.org/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&jqlQuery=pr oject+%3D+FCREPO+AND+resolution+%3D+Unresolved+AND+component+%3D+FeSL+ORDER+ BY+priority+DESC&mode=hide - a number of these are also planned for resolution in the next release.
