Yes, in standard setup Fedora GSearch extracts full text from DOCX
(and many others) with the help of Apache Tika (comes with Fedora
GSearch) and passes this full text as a plain text to SOLR for
indexing. I can confirm that this works in my current setup.

These are files that control the details:
foxmlToSolr.xslt (Fedora GSearch)
schema.xml (Solr)
solrconfig.xml (Solr)
