Eddie,

It appears that I have been using documentation from and earlier release due to
the presence of the older paths in my fedora.fcfg. I will reconfigure with
these new notes and let you know how it goes.

Thank you,
Bob

Bob,

Are you following the instructions from
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/FEDORA36/Journaling or a different version?

Glancing at your log messages, I see paths like
"fedora/server/journal/Journaler", when they should be
"org/fcrepo/server/journal/Journaler". Sometime this summer I noticed the
journaling instructions on the wiki still had the old fedora package names
rather than the current org/fcrepo package names and updated them accordingly.
Are you sure you're using the correct package names in your fedora.fcfg?

Eddie

Hi all,

Is this the appropriate forum for answering newbie questions? I have a need to
implement Journaling and need a little nudge in the right direction.

Best,
Bob

Hello,

we are building a fedora repository with proai.

For the 'Deutsche Nationalbibliothek' we must create an OAI service that
supports XMetaDissPlus.

One solution of this problem is, to put a separated datastream with the
XMetaDissPlus data to each object.

But we think, this is not the perfect solution.

Our idea is, to use a xsl File to convert the data for proai on the fly.
In example 5 of the source code is an example encluded. I'm wondering, why the
xsl file part of the object and not part of the service or deployment.

It is not easy to understand this example.

Do you have a better idea, how to solve this problem?
Does more documentation exist about proai and xsl-conversion?

Greetings and thanks for help

Jochen

Luca,

If you have a fedora object published via PROAI that you no longer want to be
harvestable, the best way to do that in the default configuration is to leave
the itemID relation in the RELS-EXT and set the object state to Inactive or
Deleted - this will generate an OAI deleted record which indicates to OAI
harvesters that the item should be removed.

There is probably a way to get the OAI deleted record behavior without setting
the object to Inactive or Deleted using the 'driver.fedora.deleted'
configuration, but I've never changed that setting. See configuration docs here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/FCSVCS/OAI+Provider+Configuration+Refere
nce#OAIProviderConfigurationReference-FedoraDriver:AdvancedConfiguration

Hope that helps,
Rebecca

It is with regret that we announce the departure of Chris Wilper from the
DuraSpace team. Chris, who has been working on the Fedora project for 10+
years, has taken a position close to home in Rochester with Thompson Reuters as
part of their in house development team.

Chris has been a pillar of the Fedora community and has made his mark advancing
Fedora over the years from a prototype to a full scale production system with
hundreds of institutions adopting the open source platform.
As DuraSpace tech lead for Fedora, Chris has been successful during the last
few years transitioning Fedora from a grant funded project to a volunteer, open
source community-based project supported by an engaged developer community.
Please join us in wishing Chris well in his new endeavors.

Our intent is to fill Chris's line as soon as possible. In light of recent
discussions around the future direction of Fedora, we are working closely with
the stakeholder community to determine the optimum skill set and
responsibilities to help drive a new development effort. We plan on reaching
consensus and taking action well before the end of this calendar year. The
group hopes to fund multiple positions both within and outside of the
organization to forward the work in a substantial way.

You can expect to hear more about this decision and a Fedora improvement
project in the near future.
