Hi Matthias,

thanks for the reply and the advice about DC!

Hi Ralf,

Not to my knowledge, and I have discussed that issue several times with the
Fedora folks before. We had a similar issue when working on eSciDoc, and we had
to solve it within the eSciDoc service layer (using an XSLT transformation).
Looks like the service layer is the way to go. Although it would be nice to add somehow "internal" services to Fedora instance. I think I read something similar when browsing the documentation. What's the final result of the discussion with the Fedora maintainers on this topic? Can I look it up somewhere?

As a side note, I would like to raise your attention to the fact that the
default DC datastream is really intended for Fedora-internal purposes. If you
want to do some fancy stuff with your DC record, you might want to consider
having a separate DC datastream that you can fully control. The default DC
datastream comes with some limitations (e.g. regarding namespaces).
Does this mean Fedora is interfering with changes I put to the DC record?

Ralf

Matthias

Subject: [fcrepo-user] Update datastream on ingest and/or modification

Hello everyone,

is there a way to tell Fedora (3.6.x) to execute a transformation on a
datastream prior to saving an object or particular datastream? One of my
uses cases would be to update the default DC datastream whenever a
METS/MODS datastream gets updated.

I can find a lot about external services descriptions and deployments
for dissemination. But is there a similar concept for ingest and
modification?

Thanks a lot!
Ralf
