******** Apologies for cross-posting ******** The FAO of the United Nations and the Agricultural Information Management Standards (AIMS) Community [1] are pleased to announce a new webinar entitled " Recommendations for Agricultural Information Management: Introducing the AIMS Platform and its Potentials for Information Managers" [2]. The session will take place on 15th of October 2013 – 16:00 Rome Time [3] and will be presented by Karna Wegner, information managment specialist of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (Italy) and member of the AIMS editorial team. ABOUT THE WEBINAR AIMS is a space for accessing and discussing agricultural information management standards, tools and methodologies, connecting information workers worldwide to build a global community of practice. The webinar will inform about - good practices for the facilitation of open access, - good practices for assuring quality in metadata creation, - standardized agricultural vocabularies (organized knowledge structures), - tools that use recommended standards - initiatives related to the semantic web (linked open data, LOD) on the AIMS platform, and - support services on AIMS. Furthermore the AIMS community will be introduced as a network of practitioners that cooperates on all issues of agricultural information management, exchanges practical experiences and that can be consulted for any related problem.
