yum search certainly can be done now.
the tag database that is being added to the pkgdb as a part of the Google
Summer of Code is what yum will eventually be able to query as well.
So you can return packages based on a number of arbitrary keywords/tags
that, ultimately, can be set by users/contributors independent of the
packager.
