I'd say it's rather more common than it used to be; many people don't
use ISP email any more, they just use a gmail or Yahoo! or whatever
account for everything.

Even when people have more than one, it's often the case they only have
one personal email and the other is a business address they can't use
for non-work-related purposes.

Those of us who've been collecting addresses from different ISPs and so
on for years are probably in the minority these days :)
