Rahul, Steve and myself met one of the organizers on Friday. And, it turns out that the audience they expect for the FOSS segment of the meet isn't exposed to FOSS, Fedora and other stuff. Given that this event is in September, this should allow you to create a workshop that introduces FOSS, Fedora and provides some initial knowledge as to how and where to contribute.
Doing stuff like Packaging etc may just be an overkill, while doing a custom Spin may make the cut.
