I follow your suggestion but it
does not serve my purpose as it installs an older version of hplip, hpjis
which does not include HP Laser Jet P1007. The printer is new in the market.

You need to do a install,
connect to the net and at root shell
# yum -y install hp*
basically you need hplip, hpijs.
