For the second time in a couple months, Ryan and I ran into a
situation where a contributor basically copied largely from online
articles to create a Magazine article. I'll amend our "how to write
for us" article, but could you folks also help us get the word out if
you happen to feature Magazine as a "get started" contribution for new
community members? Thanks.

Sometimes it's a good idea to quote in an article where it helps the
reader understand a topic, or promotes an additional reliable source.
However, copying wholesale from articles -- even if the text's license
allows it -- is unacceptable for the Magazine.

There may be limited exceptions by agreement with the editors and
community. But at its worst, it's plagiarism. As a rule, writers
should avoid copying from elsewhere.
