Any idea if a version from the fedora 8 branch will work in fedora 9 and beyond?

If you're building for Fedora 8, you'll want to ensure that your configs include something like commit 11dbd0bb5ba4b845e80109e990e4e780ca402218 so that they'll continue to boot > What (if any) functionality am I missing out on by using the f8 branch?
