Renaming the source package(s) imposes a big penalty - getting the guidelines changed and every package re-reviewed. Maybe something that we can consider for Fedora 12, or maybe something we want to avoid. On the other hand, this is an actively bad idea. We are currently using 3 different versions of GCC from 3 different upstream projects. Binutils doesn't even exist on Darwin.
