Looks like a good idea to me > - why not use the same gcc on all platform? ie. gcc-4.4. isn't it build > on darwin? The GCC used by Apple is a forked version of GCC which Apple also maintains. I don't think that all the Apple changes are upstreamed.. I could try creating a GCC 4.4 version of the i686-apple-darwin9 compiler, but I fear it won't be possible.
