Upstart is an event-based replacement for the /sbin/init daemon which
handles starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them
during shutdown and supervising them while the system is running.

Update Information:

Fixes the notorious gettys-don't-respawn-after-libc-update bug. Interestingly,
the first installation of the package will likely trigger the bug again, but
after reboot it should never appear again.
