Jerry, The /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows that the Xorg program attempts to
use a whole range of resolutions and rejects most of them as either "Bad
mode clock/interface/doublescan" or "hsync out of range" the latter
applied, for example, to "1024x768". Our target systems are Centos 5.3
but I chose F12 as the base because I hoped that it would give me the
best features, particularly a higher screen resolution for the guests.

Thanks for response. I edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the client and
added a modes line containing 1280x800, 1024x768 and 800x600 but the gui
display change still only offers 800x600 and 600x480. Rebooting made no
difference. Brendan
Hmm. Works like a charm for me with Centos 5.3 and 5.4 guests. Maybe
a clue can be found in /var/log/Xorg.0.log on the guest. What reason
does it give for discarding, say, 1024x768?
