My wife broke her tibia this summer cycling in the Blueridge Parkway and was
out of commission for three months. Having to assume both our home duties, I
became aware of what a spoiled, spoiled man I have been these past thirty
years. :-)

I know it may be hard to accept, rip, but you are not a young man anymore.
(Isn't the big 5-0 just around the corner?) Research has shown that it is not
just the fairer gender that may need to take Calcium and Vitamin D supplements
to maintain good bone health. As one well past his first half century of life,
I am paying much closer attention to taking care of this mortal shell!

Hope you heal fast!

It's a recreational league in Howard County, Maryland.

I was playing First. Batter hit a line drive with wicked topspin just
to my right. I pivoted and stepped in front of it, stabbed across and
downwards with my mitt but couldn't move fast enough as the ball
sliced down and under my mitt ... impact on the left side of the
tibia, about an inch above the ankle. "Just a minor greenstick..."

eh.

important bit: Kept the ball in front of me. Got back to first with
it before the batter. Prevented the run. The center-right fielder
asked if she could get me some ice.
