I really appreciated reading who are the ones posting on this list are so I guess I have to share too ;)
I am Niko, 26 from Germany (Siegen) and finishing right now my information science studies. After that I want to get my Phd also in Information Science. Im really passionate about it and never regretted quitting German philology and philosophy after three years . Nevertheless I think it was a good choice to start with German philology and philosophy because it pretty much made me who I am regarding my focus. Right now Im single and really dont mind it, because Im writing my diploma thesis and its pretty much stressing and leaves not much leisure time. Im a soccer maniac (what is pretty normal as a German ;)) but I dont play myself ;-). When I was young I was pretty ambitioned in basketball but due to a knee injury I was forced to quit. Basketball was pretty huge here in Germany back in the 90s, especially the Bulls and Michael Jordan. So today I only enjoy watching soccer, American football (playoffs), basketball insert random broadcasted sport here J When I was young my German pretty bad, so my mother thought it would be really awesome to get me reading. What started with The Lord of the Rings never ever ended. Even today reading is one of my favorite leisure activities (besides gaming, cooking, drinking wine and enjoying the company of my friends). Since I started with Lord of the Rings Im totally into (high) fantasy, but I also enjoy crime stories or historical novels. But mainly I stick to fantasy. Actually I started plotting a novel on my own but mainly for stress release. I really enjoy discussing the plot with a fellow writer and adding new twists ;-). 3 years ago a friend of mine introduced me to the world of Midkemia and since then Im stuck there ;). What is kinda depressing that some of the novels are not available here anymore, so even if friends of mine are interested its quite impossible for them to read the whole saga (I switched to the English novels a while ago). Thank you all for sharing ;-), hopefully someday Ill meet some of you because I really appreciate the different characters here. Will be a long weekend for them as it is Bonfire night tomorrow. Work as an IT Manager which is 99% pure boredom 1% panic trying to look as though I know the answers. I appear to be naturally good at it so it's not interesting. Like most I have dabbled with writing but while I can start and end, the intervening chapters hold no interest so for now the story plans remain on the bookcase. I'm terrible at watercolours but enjoy trying, figure in another 30 years Ill be average but that's not the reason for doing it. Read a fair bit through a broad range of styles (Ray, Gemmell, Zelazny, James P Hogan, P OBrien, Jack vance, Bertrum Chandler among the ones I would be gutted to loose). I like physics a fair bit and would do a degree/research if I had time and money; also trying to rebuild my kitchen (long story) and produce an accounts package I intend to give away free. There is a business model or I'm an idiot, I'll tell you in 12 months. Enjoy the usual MMO (my tipple is DDO)/Strategy/Roleplay games; starting to get bored with Battlefield already, good job I'm buying MW3 for my son next week. Like most music (off to see the Tiger Lillies in Feb which will be erm 'interesting'. Only other notable things I can think off at the moment are that I had cancer at 21 (Five of us went in at the same time only two of us came out, interesting learning you are mortal), which kiboshed becoming an officer in the RAF :( and is probably why my son is adopted. Oh and I've won a remote controlled Alfa Romeo Mito car that should arrive next week. Only thing I can ever remember winning.
