If I remember correctly it was Hochopepa (or may have been Shimone) who explained to Pug that part of the issues with Pug learning magic with Kulgan was that Pug's mind was more "tuned" to Greater Path magic (which was lost on Midkemia than the Lesser Magic praticed by Kulgan. Greater Path magicians are more the scholars and Lesser Path Magicans tend to be more suited to elements and devices...

Hope this helps

I can't remember exactly where (I think Darkness at Sethanon) Pug says that when he works Greater Path magic he thinks in Tsurani.. so am guessing that Greater Path magicians "think" or use a force of will to cast magic.

I think if I remember

Now if I remember “Magician” correctly Pug was taught “higher magic” through memories of magicians before him but what I don’t get is how he casts magic and the difference between the “lower and higher” magic's I understand that concepts have been explained but I’m still not sure if I understand how magic works

P.S: If this has been answered I apologise profusely
