The way it works without spoiling anything is that originally Magnus, Amirantha, and Sandreena found something and a few chapters later Pug shows up and in Chapter 15, there's a lot of Magnus explains to Pug what the deal is. In the revised edition I sent Pug down with Amirantha and Sandreena, then Pug leaves to do some Conclave stuff at the Academy, sends a message to Magus to meet with him where Sandreena and Amirantha are, so that when Pug gets back, there's a whole bunch of different dialogue.
