It could be in some ways, I felt a bit the same.

While reading ACI there were places that felt reminiscent of Magician eg the
Hal meeting and escaping with the princess. Is it just me or did anyone else
feel the same way.
Note - This is not a criticism ( I loved ACI) and it is most definitely not a
retelling of Magician but rather it some ways it is like the saga is coming
full circle.
