What PJ said is true, even with the Prime membership and a Kindle,
you're only allowed to barrow one "Prime" book at a time!

Well said! I should point out that I do maintain my Amazon Prime
membership, despite the limitation on borrowing kindle books. I order
enough goods to justify keeping it and the benefits work out nicely for
me, i.e. free 2nd day air shipping, Prime Video on Demand, lower cost
Next Day Air shipping. If Amazon changes its policy about borrowing
kindle books, I'll gladly take advantage of it. Or, maybe they'll let
those of us who don't have kindles enjoy the same benefit for a
reasonable monthly fee. I read enough that I'd seriously consider using
a "book streaming" service. :)

I think there maybe also a question of limiting the possibility of
borrowing books. I mean, if anyone and their mother with an Ipad,
Android or else could simply borrow books, Amazon would ultimately lose
some sales I must guess. Every public libraries I tried that are
lending ebooks act just like with physical copies i.e., they have for
example 3 copies available for lending. So Amazon could have done
something similar and have a limited number of copies available at any
time except that this system is usually for one city. Imagine if you
were lending books to the entire world?
