Too many variables. The short answer: smoking is bad. For everyone. Some
more so than others.

As a doctor friend of mine observed, inhaling cracked carbon particles into
your lungs is never a good idea.

He said the difference between air pollution, cigaret smoke, smoke from your
fireplace/bbq, pot smoke, ceremonial sage grass, etc. was only a matter of what
carcinogens you were inhaling and how much. Pot is less "evil" than tobacco,
because it lacks nicotine but that doesn't make it harmless. Lots of free
radicals in whatever smoke you're inhaling.

So, none of it is good for any of us, just some of it is less evil. My
occasional cigar doesn't have the same risk of lung cancer as my three packs a
day back years ago did, but it still raises the risk a little, and adds the
risk of lip, mouth, and throat cancer that seems to come from the tobacco
leaves rather than wrapping paper of cigarets.

So, "better" cigarets is sort of an oxymoron.

Best, R.E.F.
