Well, today I was supposed to be going to Supanova Perth with my husband and baby, to thank Ray for his amazing work, and to get a small pile of books signed - except the baby chose this weekend to get sick, so we didn't make it :(
Since I couldn't thank Ray in person, I just wanted to thank him here. I first read Magician in school, after selecting it because it was the thickest book I could find in the school library. So many of your books are tied up in my fondest memories of youth and a carefree life, spending hours and hours curled up on a couch, unable to put the book down. These days I'm sneaking in a page or two at a time after night feeds, but it's still effortless to slip into the universe you've created, and really difficult to stop and get some sleep! I loved Magician's End, and now I'm itching to start again and read through them all - although at my current pace this would probably take about ten years. Even more so, I can't wait for my little boy to be old enough to experience Midkemia for the first time. I'm especially grumpy at missing Supanova today because we bought one of the beautiful Voyager Classics editions of Magician for the baby's first birthday present, and I really wanted to get it signed for him :( However, I was fortunate to meet Ray during the Rage Down Under tour donkeys' years ago, so I can't complain too much. And it's awesome just to have those Voyager Classics editions (obviously had to get one for my own collection, too!) as they're so beautiful. I can't wait to read whatever you write next, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be touring Australia again eventually. Thanks, Bonnie
