So, it must be time again to explain about this.
You don't start "OT" threads. Putting "OT" in the header doesn't make it
OK.
"OT" is reserved for something like an announcement, say YOU have a baby or
get married. Or a question, like "I'm moving to XYZ City. Anyone know a
good real estate agent? Contact me off list."
If one of my threads veers off on a tangent that becomes "OT" then I or one
of the old timers will relabel it OT at the appropriate moment, or tell
people to stop.
This goes back a long way, and isn't something random. This is a non-binary
group, this is a group about me and my work and goofy stuff I like, and
other related stuff, such as "I'm traveling to XYZ City, anyone free for
dinner?" which is related to the list.
Some people still pay by the kb for bandwidth, or have limited access to the
net, still. We don't all live in a world of T1 or it's equivalent. There's
still dial-up out there.
So, you see "OT" in the header, think twice about your need to jump in and
lengthen the thread.
And it's spelled Wurts.
