Ray may correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the publisher went for the
Japanese "obi" style dust jacket...also known as a "belly band." Most
hardback and paperback books in Japan have both a traditional jacket and an
"obi." The purpose of the obi is to identify the book on the shelf, provide
information about the contents and list the price. Many purchasers discard
the band after purchase...something us Feist-fans would never dream of
doing! But the idea behind this book is that we each have an actual
reproduction of Pug's Journal, courtesy of the presses on Sorcerer's Isle.
The dust jacket is simply there to make purchase in our world a little
easier. ;-)

Subject: Received Midkemia The Chronicles of Pug. The cover seems too small.

Hi everyone,

Just received my copy of Midkemia The Chronicles of Pug. The cover of the
book is noticeably smaller in height than the book itself. I’ve never
received a hardcover book with a cover that’s too small. So, this strikes
me as unusual. Or, this could be normal for this particular book. I figured
I’d ask if anyone else’s copy suffers from the same problem before
contacting Amazon.com about it.

Robert
