Profit was the first story published, but the second story sold (the first sold
was some thing about some kid who goes on to become a powerful magician. The
title escapes me, but will probably come to me at some point. Old age and
memory, you know...)

"The Wood Boy" was in a book called "Legends", an anthology of shorts written
by authors in their own worlds, but specifically to give those authors the
chance to write short stories as an intro /to/ the worlds, in the hopes that
you (as a reader of Feist) would buy the Legends book because of the Feist
riftwar story, go on to read the rest, and maybe have your interest piqued to
go buy the novel length back catalogue from the other Authors.

Ray, have you done a study (or have any of the authors found in the Legends
books) gone back and looked at the numbers? /Was/ there any sort of sales blip
on Magician after Legends came out?
