although I really enjoy Sparhawk and his crazy almost twin like relationship with his horse Faran, I find myself returning time and time again back to Pug.. The scene when Pug integrates his powers and levels the arena is to me, one of the most powerful in the book and even after 30 odd years since I first read Magician, it never loses it's magic over me..
