yes/no.
* Yes, good complaining!
* No, you're already a developer
* No, you aren't a user
* No, you missed the "S" on in the word USERS :)
At this stage I think we need
6 core developers
N library developers
2 release managers
2 tech writers
4 theoreticians
10 users
We actually have 3 core developers, one on holidays,
plus a few lurkers.
In my opinion the main objective for 1.1.3 should
be completion of the reference manual .. with light
relief for the developers implementing some fun features.
So here's a proposed roadmap:
1.1.2 -- build system (done)
1.1.3 -- reference manual
1.1.4 -- test suite
1.1.5 -- data structures
1.1.6 -- threads, parallelism
1.1.7 -- streams
1.1.8 -- refactoring, redesign
1.1.9 -- marketing
1.2 -- new model
....
2.x -- boostrap
In respect of users and developers: goal to add one new player
each month (this means a worker not a lurker). The highest
priority at the moment IMHO is a second compiler writer.
The second priority is another C++ developer.
I would also like to add one theoretician ASAP.
I am thinking to create a new mailing list:
felix-theory
for this purpose, so consultant theoreticians are not
burdened with unwanted mail from lowly implementors and
end users .. :)
A final rant: I HATE deadlines! But I am so impressed
with Ubuntu, which is deadline driven. Other big projects
such as gcc are also deadline driven. Reluctantly I have
to say I think we should move to a deadline driven model.
Any and all comments are of course solicited and appreciated!
